TL;DR

Turtle.xyz is a DeFi yield aggregator with $726M across active vaults and 410k+ wallets. After the KelpDAO exploit (18 April 2026, $292M in rsETH lost to a LayerZero single-DVN flaw), the team moved $4B from the LayerZero bridge to Chainlink CCIP in 3 weeks. The TURTLE token trades around $0.037 with a $5.7M market cap.

What is Turtle.xyz

Turtle.xyz is a DeFi yield aggregator launched in 2024. The platform routes your deposits across vetted protocols and strategies, so you earn yield without picking apart each protocol on your own. Main networks: Ethereum, Avalanche, Linea, Arbitrum, Base, BNB Chain, Optimism.

The headline event of spring 2026 was the team's response to KelpDAO. On 18 April Lazarus Group drained $292M in rsETH through a 1-of-1 DVN flaw in LayerZero. Turtle was not directly hit, but on 22 May it announced a migration of core infrastructure to Chainlink CCIP (16+ independent nodes instead of one). $4B moved across in 3 weeks. The CEO previously held CFO at audit shop Omniscia, so security is not a side concern here.

In October 2025 the team launched TURTLE on Binance HODLer Airdrop. It trades around $0.0368 with a modest $5.7M market cap. The platform charges no user fees and earns through partner integrations with the DeFi protocols it routes liquidity into.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • +Zero platform fees – you only pay network gas
  • +Migrated to Chainlink CCIP after KelpDAO (16+ nodes vs single DVN)
  • +Non-custodial – your funds always stay under your control
  • +410k+ active wallets, $726M across vaults
  • +Simple interface – fits DeFi newcomers

Cons

  • TURTLE token has a small $5.7M market cap and thin liquidity
  • Young platform (2024) – limited track record beyond a year
  • Dependency on third-party protocols – smart contract risk
  • DefiLlama does not track TVL separately – numbers come via The Defiant
  • Yield depends on market conditions and can compress

Fees

Turtle.xyz charges no user fees. You only pay network gas on deposits and withdrawals. The platform earns through partner integrations with the protocols where it routes liquidity.

Security

After the KelpDAO exploit on 18 April 2026, Turtle was one of the first protocols to drop LayerZero for Chainlink CCIP – the migration started 22 May and moved $4B in 3 weeks. CCIP requires confirmation from 16+ independent nodes, while the KelpDAO flaw was the single-node DVN. Turtle itself had no direct rsETH exposure. The non-custodial model means funds stay in smart contracts. No public audits during April-May, but the CEO previously worked CFO at audit firm Omniscia.

Who it's for

Turtle.xyz fits people who want passive DeFi yield and who care that the team pulled fast off the vulnerable LayerZero bridge to CCIP. If you are new to DeFi or just want hands-off yield without complex setup, this is a reasonable place to start with a small allocation.

FAQ

How did Turtle handle the KelpDAO exploit?

Turtle itself was not hit – no direct rsETH exposure. On 22 May it announced migration off LayerZero to Chainlink CCIP, moving $4B in 3 weeks. CCIP uses 16+ nodes vs LayerZero's single-DVN setup.

Is Turtle.xyz safe to use?

The platform is non-custodial – your funds sit in smart contracts, not on Turtle's servers. The CCIP migration closed the main attack vector. DeFi risks remain: bugs in partner contracts, exploits in connected protocols. Do not deposit more than you can afford to lose.

What are the yields on Turtle.xyz?

Depends on the pool and market conditions. Stablecoin strategies usually pay 3–10% APY, riskier strategies pay more. Yields are not guaranteed.

Is there a Turtle token?

Yes. TURTLE launched in October 2025 on Binance HODLer Airdrop. It trades around $0.0368 with a $5.7M market cap. Liquidity is still thin.

Is KYC required?

No. Turtle.xyz is a decentralized platform. Connect a wallet and you are in.
