Description
Fabric Protocol is a decentralised network for creating, managing, owning and evolving universal robots (ROBO1). The protocol coordinates data, computation, ownership and oversight through public blockchain ledgers. People contribute to the training, protection, and improvement of robots, receiving rewards and a share of ownership. Users pay for access to the capabilities of robots, forming an economic cycle.
One of the key developers of the project is OpenMind.
The protocol solves the problem of aligning human and machine interests in the context of automation. It prevents the monopolisation of the robot market (winner-takes-all), enables instant skill distribution (as opposed to 10,000+ hours of human training) and creates a system of shared ownership of intelligence and skills. Robots operate on modular stacks (VLM → LLM → action), have cryptographic identifiers, store metadata on the chain, and use skill chips through an open app store. Various form factors (humanoid, wheeled, quadruped) are supported, as well as integration with hardware (K-Bot, LimX, etc.) and open-source drivers (OM1). Coordination is via dVPN (CycloneDDS, Zenoh), identification is via TEE, and payments are via Coinbase/Circle.
